i live in cynthiana and the river here is extremly high i think its around 22 feet when in avereage its round 6 or 7 feet, my question is what happens to the fish when the water gets that high do they float on down stream or do they hang out in the creek arms in the not so swift water i have always heard that if you find a creek arm that has no current the fish will be in it but im not sure how true that is. thanks doug

hahah extremely high is an exaggeration. you could launch a boat off of 27 =)
I think you are right on....when rivers go up...fish find current breaks, such as creeks, oxbows, eddies, etc. The problem then is water quality...usually chocolate milk anyway, so fishing is tough.i live in cynthiana and the river here is extremly high i think its around 22 feet when in avereage its round 6 or 7 feet, my question is what happens to the fish when the water gets that high do they float on down stream or do they hang out in the creek arms in the not so swift water i have always heard that if you find a creek arm that has no current the fish will be in it but im not sure how true that is. thanks doug

keep in mind that the speed of the water is different at different depths, some fish hang out in the deeper holes because the hole acts as a current break, some fish go to shallow water flooded areas to feed on bugs and worms and such that are not always avalible.i live in cynthiana and the river here is extremly high i think its around 22 feet when in avereage its round 6 or 7 feet, my question is what happens to the fish when the water gets that high do they float on down stream or do they hang out in the creek arms in the not so swift water i have always heard that if you find a creek arm that has no current the fish will be in it but im not sure how true that is. thanks doug
