    Interlake anyone?

I am new to the area and weather permitting am going fishing Saturday Morning. I am thinking about heading up to Interlake to check it out. How is it? how does it cmopare to Bluegrass?

    Thanks!

    Re: Interlake anyone?

I hit two of the pits up there for crappie each spring. I don't even know a thing about any other lakes. I've been fishing these two since well before they were state property and never tried the others.

I haven't seen anyone up there fishing the last two weeks. Been up there picking mushrooms about every third day.

I fished Bluegrass the other day in 15 mph wind. Couldn't hold my boat where I wanted, so I came home with a small mess of crappie. You have a lot more opportunity there than you do at Interlake.

Not sure that Internake has any concrete launch ramps up there. Never been up there but have read a few things about the place and looked at it via google earth maps and satellite views.

Bluegrass is more developed but both are pretty rural and basic.

Bluegrass has tremendous amounts of fishing pressure almost every day of the week and espeically on weekends. Otter Pit and Loon Pit get some pressure but are more out of the way than the North Bluegrass Pit which is closer to I-164 and Boonville/NewHarmoy Road.

I'll have to drive up to Interlake someday and have a look around up there. I think that you can hunt up there as well as fish. Not sure of you can get a bigger boat with trailer in up at Interlake. Maybe so maybe not. I'd ask again before taking a big boat up there. A canoe or kayak can go just about anywhere you can drag them.

I wish that the State of Indiana DNR would purchase the old Techemusa mine area after it's reclaimed by the coal company. I use to go up there when it was an active mine back in the early 1970's.

I have a little bass buggy with a TM on it. I can drag it a little. I though I would head up there becuase the wind at bluegrass always seems to be blowing hard. that and I though maybe I could find a few mushrooms too. 40% chance of rain in the a.m. I am going unless there is lighting.

Welcome to wonderful southern Indiana ! The big pit on the left as you come down the hill isnt bad , fished it last year out of my jon boat . Caught some 12" crappie and some bass . The crappie were more towards the southern end which has some wood in the water . With this crazy weather we are having fishing has been a real challenge here lately , lets hope it breaks soon .

I've never been up to Interlake before, but need to get up there and check it out some time. Perhaps if I get a canoe someday I'll be able to fish that pit.

I too wish that this rain would go away. I am getting tired of it raining all day and every day it seems.
