    Ohio River

Well I guess we will never have a sauger run this year

The river is projected to be as high as it was in 1997 ...After it goes down you should be able to find some nice arrow heads

I'm no expert, so don't listen to what I say.

The river won't be fishable here in the Louisville area until late May or early June. By that time, it'll be too warm for any sauger run.

Good to see ya posting, jfw. I wondered where you'd been lurking.

I'd love to search for arrow heads, but I don't know anyone with the property!

During that last flood in March, one of the TV meteorologists had himself photographed with catfish he caught in a soccer field off of river road. I might have to try that myself, just so that later I'll be able to point to a field or a parking lot and say, "Hey, I caught a pretty big fish right here once."

    Re: Ohio River

The Ohio River is predicted to crest at around 30’ on Monday. More rain tonight and this weekend could push it even higher. It’s very possible that we’ll see a crest at its highest since the flood of ‘97

In March, we saw a crest of 26.63’ – at 4’ higher than that there will be extensive damage to local residences/businesses.

Here are some pictures I took on 3/11 when it was pretty much at 26.63'

    Re: Ohio River

Dude great pics, thanks. I'm predicting worse than 1997 which was the number two all time flood for the river in Louisville. They are talking 4 to 5 inches of rain with another monster system next week mid week that could put down another three inches. Also many weather peeps are saying there is no end in sight to this pattern and could get worse before it gets better.

It blows me away that nobody is really paying much attention to just how bad this Spring has been we are setting records all over the place. This has been the worst for trying to go fishing that I've seen in many years.

Heck....we've been setting records more often than not, espeically during the past four or five years it seems. Last summer it was record heat for who knows how many days, I sure as heck hope that doesn't happen again any time soon. Last year I remember not being able to get a break on cutting grass then come summer it was dry as a bone and hot like the dickens for a very long time.

Wind storms, ice storms, two 7-day power outages at my house a couple of years ago, both of which occured within the same year, totally unheard of, at least for me anyway....lived 40+ years and never lost power for more than a couple of days, then suddenly I lose power for seven days, not once but TWICE!

Where's Grumpy when you need him? I envision Grumpy as being the type of guy who recieves subliminal messages about the weird freaky weather patterns we experience now days.

Once it stops raining it will not do it again until the fall and it will be another 100 degree year.. Hide and watch.

It tears me up that I can't get on the river and fish , It would save me alot of gas money that is for sure.

    Re: Ohio River

The river has been crazy this year ... with all the high water. I agree it is going to be late may early June till it is fish able. But with this high water and fresh water coming into the lakes and rivers the water temp with stay lower longer.
