What about Kobe last night?

So Kobe has a bad ankle, the Lakers were on the ropes or at least somebody was wrapping the noose, and then Kobe takes it from the top of the key and puts a facial on Omeka Okafor. Game over ankle no problem and turn out the lights the party is over on the Hornets. Lakers will win game 6 and then if they can beat the Thunder down the road it sure does look like Kobe wants Rose or Lebron in the finals to prove he is not ready to give up the "best player in the league title just yet". Pretty big moment in Kobe's career and that is saying something considering his career

He was bringing the thunder dunk down on some heads, dang a couple of those were just plain nasty. The man has got game, there is no doubt.

He looked down right MEAN after a couple of them. All the people saying his ankle was hurt and he had lost a step blah blah blah. He rolled the same ankle a few weeks ago against the Mavs ( I think) and never missed a game then so it would take an amputation for him to miss a pivotal game 5.

On a side note, I am beginning to like Phil Jackson less and less. For a coach to have 1 title to his name much less 11, he may do less coaching than any I have ever seen. He sits there and does the occasional two finger whistle like he is the KING OF BASKETBALL. It is pretty easy, Play number 1 give the ball to Jordan and get out of the way Play number 2 give the ball to Kobe or Shaquille and get out of the way Play number 3 give the ball to Kobe and get out of the way. Has this guy EVER had to actually coach a game in his life? I don't recall ever thinking man the Zenmaster really outcoached the other coach to win that game. Funny how a guy with 11 NBA Championship rings is never mentioned in the same sentence as best basketball coach of all time

You may be right but Westbrook as good as he is needs to not put up more shots than Durant. Plus they are going to need to feed Perkins a few more times. I saw a stat somewhere that the Thunder are averaging only 5 more points in the paint after the Perkins trade. To give up 14 ppg that Green gave them for 5 more points in the paint is not worth the trade. Durant is option number one Westbrook option number two and Perkins is option number three. Plus Durant is a much better jump shooter than Westbtook so when Durant is 5-6 from three point range the other night Westbrook is not the guy to shoot 2 three pointers with under a minute to play in game 4 against Denver. Grant it OKC will close it out in game 5 but it could have been a sweep

That is the one. I warned Omeka over the summer as I was teaching Kobe this move. Now I did it with 2 bad ankles an 8 inch incision after my 2,453,567 hernia surgery plus my AMAZING 4 inch vertical leap and it was from room 532 of UK hospital, but it looks like Kobe learned well. Imagine what I could at 100% if this was done at 10%.

The best coaches do their coaching in practice, not during the game....especially in the pros. Is it important to make good in-game decisions....yes......are substituting and match-up decisions important....yes. If a coach has to to do much "real" coaching during the game, his/her team probably isn't going to win.....of course that is not always true. Sure having Kobe/Shaq and Jordan/Pippen is a HUGE reason he has won 11 Championships, but there was A LOT OF coaching and getting guys to buy into the system and their role on the team that we don't see. Can you imagine trying to get Dennis Rodman to play hard and within the rules every other night for 6 months???? Who would you consider to be "best coach of all time"? Surely not Red.....he had even more talent over the years than Phil has had.....with less parity in the league! Jerry Sloan comes to mind.....Pat Riley....??? Not really an NBA guy....help me out here.

Agreed on the pro coaches......you left out someone in the college ranks though. Bob Knight was one of the greatest coaches.....not the most well liked......in any college sport. He took hard working, class attending, four year players that were rarely physically better than their opponents and won over 900 games!

First, nobody wins without great players in the NBA and second, what did other coaches do with those same great players? Look at the Lkaers. Del harriss couldn't win a title with Shaq and Kobe, but Phil came in and won three. What happened when Phil left? Shaq bailed and the Lakers were terrible. Phil comes back with Kobe as the main man and starts winning titles again.

I have always thought coach K was the best in the game and one of the best ever. He has done wonders at Duke and he did a great job with the Olympic team getting all those stars to mesh together.

Larry Brown is also a great coach who won a college title and an NBA title. He also took UCLA to the finals and has turned around some dismal NBA teams. The guy took the Clippers to the playoffs for pete's sake.

As for Bobby Knight, he is truly a great coach, one of the best ever. That is all I can say good about him!

I know it hurt to say that Tim!!!!!!!!! Although he has done many other great things also. Raising $$$ for his schools, graduating players, helping those players after school (finding jobs), and NEVER even a hint of NCAA violations/sanctions. Too bad he couldn't have treated (humored) the media better, especially knowing that he is one of them now!
