Pickwick Lake report

I own a place on Lake Barkley near the dam, but can not get out to my dock and boat, so I went fishing with son-in-law and fishing buddy at Pickwick. Here is the report.

Fished May 4th and 5th and the conditions were good. Water was heavily stained with around 14-16 inches visibility. Water temp 66-68F. Dam pulling around 80,000 cfs and a current was noticeable on the lake. Had 2 in the boat Day 1 and 3 fishing in the boat Day 2.

Day 1: Caught 26 smallmouth, around 50+ largemouth, some catfish that were getting ready to spawn and a few bluegill. 80-90 fish total. Largest was a 5+ LB female largemouth with eggs and tail tip red from bed preparation.

Day 2: Caught 23 smallmouth, around 55+ largemouth, 3 catfish, 3 drums, 5 warmouth or so. Total 80-90 fish. Largest smallmouth 20 inches in 1-2 feet of water off mud cliff point.

Caught 80-90% of fish on tender tubes from BPS, green pumpkin and some TN Shad colors. Caught some on 3 inch Berkley Power Grubs pumkinseed color. Fish caught on bluffs and bays from depths of 1-10 feet. Most were taken 1-6 feet of water.

Water is a few inches under summer pool.
