    12 volt trolling motor wiring

Im going to go to a 2 battery setup to run my 12v trolling motor to double the capacity. I know how to hook up the batteries in parallel. I use a portable charger to charge my batteries. My question is, When charging is it best to connect to the positive and negative of the same battery or do you connect to the positive of one battery and the negative of the other battery? Also when you connect the trolling motor the same thing, positive and negative of the same battery or positive of one and the negative of the other? Or does it even make a differance? Thanks guys , I appreciate any input you might have.

As long as they are in wire parallel it does not matter. Just remember it takes long to charge two batterys in parallel and make sure your charger is up to the task.

I have mine set up that way and have had no problems charging the batteries. I have an onboard charger.

Yep you double the amp hours in parallel.

If you were to put them in series you would double the Voltage but amp hours stay the same.

Yes I do. I can almost use it for two days between charges.

I've been running two batteries in parallel for about 5 years now and I defiantly don't worry about running out of juice. Although My batteries are of two different sizes I do have to charge them one at a time, small draw back for the advantages.

Both of mine charge at same time. I charge them as soon as I get home.

Different amperages figured I'd play it safe. One larger battery and one battery 1/2 that size. Figured I'd play it safe.
