Dang that ***** Gary. I have been lucky so far, the only rod I have broken was a cheap one that I let others use when they wanted to try fly fishing for the first time.

Sad Story...One Fly Rod Down!!
On Thursday morning, I had a nice little 9 Ft, 5 Wt, 4 pc Redington rod. Then, about 2:00 pm, while driving down the road, decided to roll up the passenger side window. CRUNCH!!!!!...Rod had moved while traveling and was sticking out the window. SO.......
Anyone have an old/screwed up Redington 5 Wt with a GOOD TIP SECTION???. I'm in the market. Called Redington and they do not sell replacement sections, so unless I can find a used one on the market, then I'll just have to junk the thing out
. It"s a shame, not an expensive rod, but just hate to not try and save it. Let me know if you have a tip section availiable for sale.

That stinks Boone...where did you buy the rod at? Try taking it back to them.

No, my fault, I rolled up the window on it. ME BAD!!!
That is never a good day. If you can't find a new tip and my guess that this is a crosswater rod is correct, you could get a comparable rod at bps really cheap and slap your real on there. Heck it's probably only ten bucks more to get one of their outfits. I have a dogwood canyon 6 wt I bought for the express purpose of hiking through the woods and slapping trees and snakes with that has really been through hell. Popped a snake in the head with it two weeks ago as a matter of fact. Hear nice things about the hobbs creek rods as well. Besides the cork and the reel they put with it, not really sure what they think is so different about those two rods anyway. Good luck to ya.
Thanks for the reply. Thinking I just might salvage the rod by putting a "splint" on the top section and then using it as a Nymphing Rod when floating the Cumberland. Just a little back and forth flip-flop rod....just might work? That is never a good day. The Hobbs Creek outfits are hard to beat for the price. Gary, ask Lou about the steelhead he was horsing in on his Hobbs Creek. Good rod/reel combo and great price.
Don't "defile yourself" with that underwater stuff Boone....
Funny thing is, my brother and I still can't get my dad to nymph, despite us killing them with my dad present. He will only dry fly....He loves the renegade! haha
Sorry about the rod, that stinks Boone...

He sounds like a True and Blue Country English Gentlemen. I'll tip my hat to him, as it seems he taught you some good sporting lessons. (Hee...He..Don't "defile yourself" with that underwater stuff Boone....

Haha...he did teach us the basics...then my brother and I took it to the next level.
I do owe my love for the outdoors to my dad...he always took us out. Nowdays, when we go out...you usually find him laying up against a tree on the bank of the river taking a nap.
