Thinking about Tn FF next month"

Thinking about TN FF next month!!
Need some help, live in Jamestown, Ky next to Tn border. Thinking about a few trips to Tn fly fishing for trout. Any you fellows have suggestions on where to go? Thinking I'd just camp out at a local campground/state park/state forest area. Old man with a fishing habit needs your help ! Thanks Much
    Boone

PS, I'm retired and tired, but can fish anytime..

Boone, talked to several people down that way for Troutfest and the Holston was on fire. Met a lady from Texas on the Little River and she had done a guided trip on the Holston the day before and said they caught a ton of fish on dry flies. If you know Brandon Wade you might want to give him a shout, he was down there last week and they did really well.

Thanks Tim. Holston (SOUTH) is on my bucket list for sure. It's currently between Holston and the Clinch, but still have an open mind and a sharp hook!

Gary, don't ignore the Hiwassee either. I fished it about 10 years ago with a guide and caught 50-75 on dry flies in an eight hour float and never defiled myself with anything below the surface!

Gary, the Hiwassee looks like a western river (Rich might feel at home, minus the sage brush) and it flows through the Cherokee National Forest so it seems it has the appearance of a wilderness river. Lots of shallow riffles and good current in the river. It is about a five hour drive from Louisville and is located between Knoxville and Chattanooga.

Thanks Tim, I'm convinced. Going to put it on my WIFES CALANDAR for later in the month of June for her birthday! Now, let's see if she bites? (Any shops in the area I could bait her with?)

I couldn't tell you about shops Boone, but keep in mind you are only about an hour or a litle more from Gatlinburg and there are plenty of shops there.

I met these guys at a show and they have a good reputation from people I talked with so you might check them out.

Well they don't have sage brush, but there are plenty of rattlesnakes in the smokies and they even hang out in trees. Guy on Little River outfitters had a pic of one hanging from a rhodendron. When I saw that picture I thought to myself "nice, now I have to not only watch the rocks, but I have to look at the trees as well!"

Reminds me of the time I was playing customer golf in Texas a few years ago. Hit my drive off into the rough, I used to do that quite a bit until I traded those clubs for some decent fishing poles!! Anyways, started to go searching for the ball and customer grabbed me by the neck, saying no...no...no. Something about snakes!!!
