A co-worker of mine showed me a picture of the walleye and a striper her husband caught. They had a limit of big walleye and a striper caught from Cumberland last night. I dont have any info but there are some being caught.

Put a light out at 4am est in the main lake in about 80-100' of water near a bluff wall and did not see much life (not even the smallest of creatures) swimming to the light after more than an hour. Once I did see some shad shadows down there but netted none. A few short fish and one keeper each day.
had some GIANT short fish last night , lol, no keeper stripers but plenty of walleye to clean this morning(lunch was great at my house today). heard one fish blow up right after dark, threw right to the spot within 1 second of the blowup and managed a beautiful 23 incher !
i know what you mean, i kinda lost count of the shorts last night, i remeber when you fished 25-30 nights in the spring and NEVER caught a short ?!?!?!?!
all these shorts have to grow up.....dont they? dont they?
its still better than work....
Short fish is better than no fish i guess. It does seem the amount of shorts is growing. Is it a food problem? Been a long time since you could walk across shad from boat to bank.
Cumberland is a mere shadow of it's once great self. Thank mother nature and the dam failure.
I dont remember ever catching many short fish at night until the last few years. I can remember when if you caught a fish under 10 lb it was considered a "schoolie". They do have to grow up and I see that lake being very good in 4 or 5 yrs. IF they can make it through the summer months. The dam has to be fixed eventually. Until then I will be trying new water.![]()
Haven't been on the lake for a couple of weeks now. Rain, wood, etc has taken all the fun of of it. And yes, the size of the fish. Not sure, other then blame it on the fish kills over the last couple of summers. Size sure does not seem to be there!! Just take a look at the photos posted by the guides on the Internet. Would hate to think I paid $200 plus to catch some of those skinny fish. Wells, anyway, looking forward to fishing LC in 2015.
Good news is Kentucky has some great smallmouth streams, so dust off that fly rod or micro lite and check um out..,.
Man ole Man Boone good point. Spend 250 bucks to go out and catch two 25 inch 7 or 8lb stripers, Ouch, not for me thanks.............
