Best Bluegill/redear lake in Central or No KY?

I know how good Ky and Barkley lakes are in Ky for bluegill and redears. What is a good lake here in No Ky or Central Ky for size and numbers?

Herrington has some monster fish, but they can be tricky to find.

Wilgreen in Richmond is also a nice redear lake.

Elmer Davis use to be a great panfish lake I haven't been there in several years though.

Fished Boltz lake in Dry Ridge on 5/27 pm. Caught and released around 20 crappie, 7-8" and 20 blugill, 7-9". Crappie caught on float and minnows, bluegill on float and waxworms. Not too bad of a day. Still looking for some bigger fish to catch and eat.

Another thing to add, there was a bass tracker with a larger than 10hp motor running his big motor from the end of the lake to the ramp. It looked like around a 60hp motor. This is while we were launching. I can't believe these people that don't care and abide by the laws. I can see it happening if there is some kind of emergency but this was not the case. We need more wildlife CO's, to patrol and check the lakes and the fishermen. Just another law breaking story!

KDFWR needs more money to do what they need to. There's just not enough money in the pot to afford the amount of staff and boats necessary.

How do you know the offender didn't care? Could it be it was his first trip there and had no idea? You would be surprised how many haven't read the rule book or take notice of signs at the ramp. Did you kindly let him know that he's not supposed to do that?

Wife and I caught over 200 bluegill yesterday at Wilgreen with redworms pinched in half. I found three nests that were loaded. I kept 25 the size of my hand and three shellcracker that were spawning with the gills. They are on the tail end of the spawn but still catchable with the big fish here or there.

The fella was a local. We talked to him. Act liked he didn't hear us. I agree, not enough funding to increase patrol. I know, a friend of mine is the Campbell Co CO. Where do they send him in the summer.... to the Ohio River to patrol for drunks. Occasionally he will hit Licking River and a few of the small local lakes.

There are people who can't read as well as being negligent.

Wilgreen is good place for decent numbers but size is starting to decrease over the last three to four years with the shad. Also the best places to fish require a boat to get to them. Jacobson park in lexington is a great place to go for numbers but again don't expect huge fish. Elkhorn creek is by far the best of the streams in the area. Also out of the elkhorn there is the bonus of catch and release smallmouth. The size of the bluegills and redear on the elkhorn become. Stoner creek can be decent for numbers and decent size too. It will help a lot if you check out the kdfwr website. It has some great info if you looking under fishing section and then click "where to fish". Then click on the interactive maps and it will let you choose what type of fish you are looking for and will actually give you recommendations. Hope this helps you out.
