    The Weather

It seems this weather pattern is going to improve some but it is going to stay with us for some time to come.
    http://www.farms.com/FarmsPages/Comm...x?NewsID=40905

What does this mean for us ? MORE BAD WEATHER and now that it is hotter it will be worse 10 fold over the past couple months. folks be ready because in this kind of heat we can have a super cell storm blow up on us as fast as the radair can spot it..
Alot of people lost there life this year because they just didn't think it would be that bad and I for one know that the local news over plays this tormado stuff just for ratings and that is sad because of the cry wolf syndrome.. The local TV stations will also down grade the chance of bad weather when imortant events happen like the derby and hollidays.
Well I got to go for now.
Remember if you can here thunder you are close enough to get struck by lightning and most of the time the storm is with in 15 miles of you.

    Re: The Weather

I hardly believe the local weather folks are overstating weather threats for ratings, especially when they are doing serious storm reports and go 30-40 minutes without a commercial break. After all, the commercials are what pay the bills.

The reason for the earlier warnings are strictly based on new technology. It changed when we came up with the technology to locate possible tornadoes on radar as opposed to having to wait for on-ground confirmation - a confirmation that sometimes comes too late because it isn't always easy to spot a tornado. Things can be dark in severe t-storms producing tornadoes and at night.

Anybody that ignores these warnings because they think the weather guys are crying wolf in order to get ratings simply isn't very bright!

Think I have to side with olgreenboat on this one. With the click of a mouse one can pretty much tell whats happening in ones neck of the woods. Granted take the warnings seriously yet with modern technology one can see whats coming there way. I knew the last storm wouldn't be as severe as they made it out to be for my area that morning just by watching on my laptop. Some of those guys do tend to go over board a bit much. And I think it is a rating thing. Just an example olgreenboat called the weather last week a week in advance. And he nailed it. I thought he was crazy about the up coming weather and he predicted it a week in ahead of time. I just wonder if his alias isn't Tom Wills.

    Ol tornado tom LOL.
He said we was Not going to get any bad weather that April 3rd day.
Always take warnings serious and don't look back. A lot of times thou the local news channels will up play tornado threats and I have went to NOAA and check for myself and the threat was very minimum at best. Like coombro said all you have to do is check the weather your self and if you know what your looking at on the maps you can do better then the local chanels do.
Any time the weather is hot and humid and the air is stagnate there is a threat of storms and tornado's but back early this spring (March)they were hollering about tornado's when it was in the 50's and 60"s now i did not say it couldn't happen it is just rare that it does and for the most part when i check the chances were less then 20%.

Tim I agree but they were even saying on the news that people were not taking the warnings serious and a lot of lives could of been saved if they did. Even with all there new radiars they still have a 5 minute wait before it updates.. I'm not ashame to say that tornado's scare me and I have seen my share of tornado's and funnel clouds that never were reported and Survived the April 3rd Brandenburg tornado, Never have i ever seen anything like that and I hope I never do. I was almost 11 at the time.

I am with you on that, I have never experienced a tornado, but I have seen first hand the aftermath and I am not a fan!

I hear ya there. We were playing baseball at Ft.Knox in 4-3- 73. Games were cancelled because of weather. We made it to the ol' Lincoln mercury dealership by Starlite drive in. Saw tornado form and the whole team took cover in the ditch off 31-w. Ended up demolishing Pondeosa Trailer park. Don't know how lucky we were.
