Will catfish in the Ohio River hit cut Tilapia? Sure would be easier to buy it from Walmart, than to catch shad or skipjacks. Anybody every tried it?

One of the "old timer's" i used to fish with would use this.
He'd get some chicken brests, he would try and find some out of date, in the freezer box, maked "reduced for quick sale" he'd thaw them out, put them in a freeze bag, or plastic container, and put cherry or strawberry
kool-aid on them, dry, out of the packet, they would turn red, and the cats would eat them pretty good.... Tr
I think it would work just fine.
Chicken Gizzards, chicken livers, cow tongue, and spam are all baits that work just fine.
Along those same lines Bob, I've often pondered about an oily saltwater fish (such as cod) I "think" that would work great even more so in waters with abundant shad and alewives ...... easy to get, one day maybe I'll know LOL
Never known a cat to turn down a good meal!![]()
All baits mentioned above will catch channel cats most allways, blues rarely, and flats not so much!![]()
Interesting, never did that much fishing for the cats, but did some on the Ohio around Henderson, KY/Evansville,IN. Always used either minnows or "stink-bait" thinking they were the universal bait(s for cats). So help me out, what works best on the Ohio in your opinion?.
Thanks,
Gary![]()

Skipjack, mooneye, shad, suckers, buffalo, bluegill. I prefer big live bait but that's just me. You will get more bites useing cut bait but alot more small fish. I like to kind of weed the small ones out.ChuckInteresting, never did that much fishing for the cats, but did some o the Ohio around Henderson, KY/Evansville,IN.
