    football jig molds

Ive decided to start making my own jigs. I bought one of the do-it football jig molds. What Ive found is the hooks that do-it claims you must use is way to light for bass fishing. Actually starts bending with as little as 3lbs of pull. Anyone have a way to use a stronger hook without modifying the mold? Was gonna try buying a couple differant hooks to see if they would work but jig hooks can only be purchased 100 at a time. Hopefully this wont be another investment that just ends up on the shelf.

Which mold do you have? Is it a flat eye hook mold? They are not hard to modify, but if you have the Do-It FBB-4H-AFM you can use both styles of hook eyes, it can use the heavier wire hooks. Gamakatsu 5491 or the mustad 32796.

I only use the heavy wire. Check to see which hooks are compatible with the molds and base you decision on what the mold will accept and what kind of applications/presentations you desire.

I have the model FBW-4-AF mold. The mold says to use the eagle claw 570 or 575 hook. I guess I should have checked the hooks before I purchased the mold.

Can you return it? If so I would go with the FBB-4H-AFM.

You can change hooks. Just look and see what style and the degree of the hook is and you should be able to use it. I ended up using a 6/0 hook in my football jigs. It fits fine and is a much heaver hook.

I like the mixed hook mold. It covers several different styles of hooks and wire diameters. Provides many options.
