I did a "Bonzai" trip last Wednesday after work to spend some time Thursday on the beautiful Cumberland River with my good friend Lowerider. We were able to convince the lovely "Mrs. Lowerider" that Lowerider should be able to go fishin one more day while on vacation with the family, to help a poor old friend to feed his STRIPER ADDICTION! This excuse had been used multiple times before with so so success. But from the previous 3 days reports I just couldn't stay home!! No way!
So! We wake up bright and early Thursday and hit the road to great looking area I'd never been. Right off the bat we were catching good bait and we were in the middle of a huge school of white bass so every cast was just good therapy. We put our bait out and we were fishing hard for about two hours, no luck! ****!
We load up, smash in the truck, and head on down the road. We get to the new spot and, thanks to the rain, catching bait bait here keeps a guy on his toes and a little tightness in the shorts. We were able to land some bait and went back to fishing. We did have his Dad with us too, as we are putting out bait "Kaboom!" and "Zing" the first rod takes off right next to Dad and is just screaming. He grabs the first one right off the bat. ****! But grab the net and get it in the boat!! 25Lbs. Sweet! "Get the bait out and lets do it again!" We waited a while and then the thunder you could hear in the distance was coming closer then we started to see the lightning flashing. That was the last thing I wanted to see! Well, I guess I'll be home on time, for once. As soon as the rain started "KABBOOOM!" and "ZZZZIINGGG!" again straight out to the middle and down the river! Mine!!! I've got to say thank you to Lowerider for the Biggest Striper I've boated 36Lbs. It felt like hitting a Homerun, scoring a TD, and making a last second shot all in one!
We ended up putting seven in the boat that day all 20+. And plum wore PRO V LE out.
THANKS GUYS AND Mrs. Lowerider! Didn't make it home on time! It was worth it!!!!!

On this trip I some how foul hooked a 25# in the tail, I just knew that this was going to be the "ONE" it pulled braid non stop down the river. We gave chase and was able to finally get it boat side, as lumpybass had the net we all yell'ed that there were three more Stripers the same size all balled together with the hooked fish. That would have been about 100lb's of Striper in the net if we had a bigger net.![]()
Let's hope for many more buddy.
I left the camera down there so I'll get some pics up soon.
