Headed to Erie end of July

I have the opportunity to fish Lake Erie at the end of July. My question is will I be waisting my time going after Smallmouth, or should I target walleye? What presentations would u try for both? I'll be near Herron River by the Pillsbury factory. Thinking of fish South, Middle and North Bass Islands.

The fishing should be better this time of year on the eastern basin around Astubula. Walleye are tough around the islands later in the year. I can not answer about the smallies. There is more structure around the islands that should produce good smallie action.

Thx Mtn Lures. I go to Dale quite often so I am partial to the Smalljaw, but I hear the Walleye is great on that lake. I just don't know anything about trolling or worm rigs.

If you're fishing the Western Basin around the bass islands I can help you. I've fished around Middle Bass, Rattlesnake, etc. for 14 years. The smallies are def post spawn and will be in deeper water. send me a PM if you need some detailed info I can help you out.
