Anybody what the KY Afield this weekend? Really cool segment on fly fishing for carp in creeks around KY. They were imitating locusts that had fallen in the creek, catching some nice carp. I don't know if any of you have ever fly fished for carp before, but they put up a FIGHT!!! We used to FF for them in UT growing up...really fun!

I missed it, was out of town this weekend. Hopefully they will replay it or post the segment on youtube. I have not caught a carp on the fly yet, but not for lack of trying.
Yeah...it was cool. They were throwing topwater locust patterns to cruising carp...then they would twitch the rod making the fly quiver like a real locust...and WHAMO!!! All the carp were 10+lbs! Fun!

I fish for them a lot. Sometimes I wonder why did i throw it out there. Your right as it is a heck of a fight on a fly rod. As summer drops the levels of the Nolin River and with the county sucking it dry for water it makes fishing for carp easy. I spot fish for them and it is a blast. Any one want to give it a whirl give me a pm and I'll put you on them. Although this summer has the river up and down like a yo-yo. Guess I do cheat a little as I put a small piece of night crawler on, but hey it works! They rip it!
That was a rerun of an episode from a few years ago where Tim was fishing at Buckhorn Lake during the Cicada hatch with a local guide from Hazard.
You can watch it again if you want (and it is on Buckhorn with Chris Haley): http://www.youtube.com/user/KYAfield...26/KH6GZd32e_A
We had cicadas here in Nashville this year and the carp fishing was out of control. 30-50 fish days with the smallest fish at 6 pounds. We were flat worn out.
