    Homeowner associations run amuck

Growing problems with Homeowners associations running amuck.

As many as 80% of new homes are governed by homeowner associations.

They regulate things such as showing affection in your yard to what time you can park in your drive out of the garage.

Forclosures on property for delinquent dues and lien placement in as little as 14 days.

Election fraud in selecting officers, kick backs from service providers to boards, property assessments in excess of property value.

So these "private" associations that were desinged to handle functions normaly performed by your local government appear to be as susceptible to corruption as any government if not more so. No constitutional protections or remedy.

Makes you wonder just how efficient this wave of privatization really is.

    Re: Homeowner associations run amuck

I hate all Home Owner Associations period.... I have now lived in my last one and will never ever live in one again after I sell this house...

Too many officer's look the other way when violations are brought up and reported, but if some people in the neighborhood have even the slightest infraction, the HOA contacts them immediately.

We have an Asian ( India ) family that moved in about 5 houses down from my house. They have 2 teenage sons about 13 to 14 years old and several young daughter's. The teenage sons only want to run around the neighborhood on scooter's breaking every law known to man kind about operatiing a motor vehicle. The grass has been unkept and last I looked it was as high as 2 feet in parts of the yard.

Another house just got busted for having a party late at night by one of the family member's who attends UK. About 100 teenage kids came to the party and completely blocked off one of the streets, with all the vehicle's being parked everywhere.... Cops came and i do mean a lot of cops...Filled up the patty wagon as they say..... Booze and drugs galore...House is now vacant and tore up big time...Parents got divorced and just let the bank have it back, prior to the big party..... grass as high as 4 feet in some places in the yard.....

So I'm gonna buy me about 3 to 4 acre's of ground and build me a house on property that i can do anything I feel like doing.... I'f i wanna step outside and take a leak off the back deck, then so be it, if I want to park my boat in my friveway over night, I'll do that as well and not have to worry about some HOA officer come knocking on my door tellin me I can't park my boat in my drive way attached to my truck for an early morning trip to the lake.....

I'm done ranting now, thank you.....

My neighborhood has an HOA. Doesn't bother me any. The rules are really about the same as the city regulations.

They do help keep home values up and keep the trash out.
