    Talking Dreamin' about El Salto...

Just got Anglers Inn report (end of season). I didn't go this year but can't wait to go again some day. Went in June 2010 and caught lots of bigguns. Biggest was 11.3.

You ever dreamed of fishing El Salto? Put the money aside and go! June and July are SUPER!!! It's really hard to go wrong with Anglers Inn or Ron Speed Adventures. See AI's end of season site at:

    It's BIG BASS HEAVEN!

I feel as safe down there as I do in my own neighborhood (I've been 5X since 2005). The violence is around the border. El Salto is WAY south of the border. You fly to Mazatlan and you're completely taken care of from there! I've flown out of Lexington before on a 6AM flight and I'm fishing by 3PM... It's really hard to go wrong in June and July.

2 of my trips (Sept and Nov) have been sub par. The other 3 in June and July have been amazing! All 3 of those trips produced fish over 10 pounds.

My parents had a time-share down in Mazatlan growing up, and we used to go there every year....that was well before I became a bass fisherman. I now kick myself knowing that I was that close to a world-class bass fishery, and never took advantage of it! However, we did take advantage of the ocean, and would catch several marlin and sails evertime we went down there. Fun stuff!

Its not safe anywhere in Mexico right now. Their rates are going down because even the Texas guys aren't crossing. I'd wait until the cartel mess is cleaned up. Now Falcon, thats another story. Patrol boats all over the American side.

smljaw is right on. The place is incredible and totally safe. I have been this year and last year as well in late June. I got a 12.8 last year, and my first fish of this years trip weighed 9.6. I will return in 2012 for sure!
