Night Fishing

I don't really care for night fishing, but by reading through this board there are many that do. I've read about top water baits as well as big bladed spinners, but does anyone have any success with a rattling crank? I wondered if sound plays a role in this or if it's just vibrations. Everyone always talks about how much fun it is. What about scents - or am I just asking for cats?

I'm one of those that loves night fishing, during the hot summer, it's cooler, peaceful, and alot more, cranks are the best at times, I'm not a cranker, I'm a bottom bumper of all types, I have a rattle of some type in just about everything I bump the bottom with, they say their times when a rattle won't work, I wouldn't know, scents, I use Bang, garlic, give night fishing a good try, once you get a custom to it you will like it alot more....JMO

I always figured sound equaled vibrations, just a different frequencies. I tend to lean toward baits that wobble like crazt, then just adjust spped to try to find a hit pattern.

I think if I ever started having success with it I would love it. God knows it's so much better without all the jet skis running around! I think it's my own issue. Just not having enough faith in night fishing. Maybe it's because I can't see the normal things like my line moving, or where my bait lands.

you need a 12v black light, makes fluorescent line look like well rope, you can use heavier line at night, the biggest trouble most new fisherman have with night fishing is depth perception, but after a wile it goes away...

Yup. There is nothing better when you get on a hot spot and dont have to worry about any wind or comotion. You can just pretty much stay still on the spot , maybe give the trollin motor a tap or two. I love doing this at points with a big ol worm. And diddo on the black light.

i love to night fish... but cuddos on the depth perception... its taking me a bit longer to get used to it i guess.

we fish Herrington Lake alot, the entire has rock banks, throwing up on the bank is almost a sure break off, after thinking about it, I think it's more of a timing thing than a visual one, unless the fish are nose up against the bank your bait can land a little short, Herrington is also a deep lake, so we pitch a good bit of the time, pitching keeps the bait low and the black light lights it up the whole time, hope this helps some.

The trick to night fishing is black lights and florecent line. You can see everything. You line looks like a neon tube and there is enough light to cast with. But there is defanately a time frame most of my fish usually come just before dawn. Which makes for a long night if you start at dark.
