    Re: Lake Shelby

I have fished there about 3 times and do feel like its worth fishing. I like the islands out in the upper part of the lake but have not caught any bass over 3 lbs. But there are a lot bigger ones in there according to other people. I dont know about the bluegill or crappie fishing there because i always bass fished when there. Good luck jc

Fished there several times and always hear tale of larger bass. However, these fish are generally caught further up the creek, not on the primary lake. Or so I am told...I have never caught much bigger than 12-15"...

    Re: Lake Shelby

I've fished this lake many, many times. There are a bunch of bass up to 12" in it. In at least 10 trips, I've probably only caught one or two keepers (15" at Shelby). My biggest keeper was a little over 2lbs. I've heard tales and seen one pic (the previous link) of nice bass caught out of there, but I haven't caught 'em. The most productive pattern is green plastics pitched next to wood.

I haven't been out there in a number of weeks because the lake gets a bunch of string algae floating on the surface making it hard to fish in the summer. Also, the lake has tons of floating and submerged wood. I broke a shear pin once and never saw the submerged stump. It's just a 5hp motor, so I certainly wasn't going fast!
