Can anyone tell me anything about Patoka?

The good, bad , ugly... I'm suppose to fish a tourney there and have never seen the place. Anything would be helpful even if you tell me it's terrible!!

Bad and Ugly pretty much sums it up. Very tough lake to fish and way too much pressure for its size.

Lots of wood and grass. Can't help much more than that, only been there once this year but unfortunately have to go back a couple more times for tournies.

if launching from painter creek when you go under the bridge the third cove on your right half way back there is an old mini farm homestead before it was a lake look for the foundation an there is an old farm pond there too
many tourneys won there on spinnerbait an worm!!! find the pond on sonar an work the old bank line with a worm it will pay off

If you're launching from south lick fork, straight across from the ramp. small cove with one tree. smoke that tree with 10" power worm with chartruese tail. Come out of the cove go around the bend, take your boat out about 35 ft. and cast to about 10 ft of the bank with power worm or brush hogs red in color. finish up there and go across to the far side avoiding stick ups. depending on the weather, and time early morning, buzz bait it over the grass and carolina rig it about 30 ft from bank. go as far left as you can, you will wind up in a small cove, a little beaver hut will be right on the bank there. crank bait or worm real slow. watch out for the stick ups, plenty in there, crank them all. get on the big motor and go towards the marina {hoosier hills} I believe, right before you get to the tributary before the marina, huge grass bed on that side, buzz the hell out of it. go down besides the marina, plenty of wood down through there. finish up by going to the cove after the marina, nothing but grass. if you win send me some cash lol. if you don't then it was just another day on patoka, good luck. dude, really watch out for the stumps. Peace.

I've had fairly good luck at Patoka, I have caught fish around grass with Pop-r's and buzzbaits in May or June and late fall. Senko's and brushhogs in the grass as well.

IT gets pounded because there just aren't any lakes in Indiana. I fished it once while I was working in Indianapolis, just from my jonbaot. I was at the head of the lake or a major creek where I launched, the water was stained, about 1' visible. I dont recall there having been a good rain recently either. It was pretty flat with a very defined creek channel. I caught a few on big greenpumpkin worms and citrus sparkle fat free shads working the channel bends.

Its a crummy place to fish, but its not impossible to catch em. I caught fish right by the first ramp I picked on the map the only time I went. Maybe they were just really biting that day.

I dont fish tournyes but a friend of mine is an electrician and its one of his suppliers sponsoring it, and he's doing me a favor by wiring my basement so I couldnt say no, dont really want to fish it but a favor rendered is a favor returned you know? Thanks for the advice , we'll see what happens.
