    Reliable onboard charger?

I can't decide if it's a blessing or a curse, but I happen to own two boats - a 1998 21' Triton and a 1984 16' Bass Tracker. If you don't know by now what B.O.A.T. stands for by now, stop by my house and I'll show you a drawer full of receipts just from the last five years. These things are killing me! I've replaced both onboard chargers in the last two years and now one of them has bit the dust again. If you have a brand recommendation, be it good or bad, I would love to hear it. I just want a charger that works reliably for more than a year or two. I don't think that's too much to ask. All I want to do is fish and not have to worry about what's going to break next!

Sorry to hear that you are boat poor And to hear about the problem with the chargers. What brand(s) have you used that went bad? I have an onboard that I bought second-hand. It is an old Bass Pro model I got froma guy near Louisville. So far it has performed well; knock wood.

The one that just bit the dust is an Xps 4/4 (Bass Pro Shops). I think in the future if I see the "Xps" on something that costs more than $5, I'll stay away from it.

Bass Pro chargers are junk---they're ok when they work, but they don't work for long! I have a MinnKota 3 bank and it works great!!! It replaced my Bass Pro one when it crapped out when it was less then a ywear old. Have had the MinnKota brand now for 5 years.
I really like the Minn Kota brand.

The old Bass Pro are junk and they admitted that. They just came out with new model that is complete redesigned. My older one just died it was about a year old and they swapped it out for a new last month. It is lighter, smaller, and completely digital. Pro Mariner makes their chargers.

I have a Dual Pro Three bank charger. It has performed flawlessly in my 1997 Hydra-Sports for 14 seasons!! Well worth the money! Nothing Bass Pro Shops have is worth anything!
