Striper Report for Lake Cumberland

Finally got my boat issues resolved (fingers crossed) and with the cooler weather, I'm thinking of trying again for striper at Cumberland this weekend. Probably going early morning Saturday from the Jamestown area.

Anybody have any general reports? I'm still trying to catch the first striper out of my own boat (I've only tried about 4-5 times, though). I may have had one on last time this spring before the trolling motor caught fire!

know1 several guys on lakecumberland.com say they are chasing the shad now. Two weeks ago there were tons of shad in the head of most creeks.

Now whether these characters are actually catching Stripers or not is another question.

I am not sure if they are back in the creeks or not, I would be suprised if they are but its worth a shot. However they are right there at Jamestown since you are going there don't bother running all around to find them. They are jumping just outside of Jamestown right now speradically in the morning, sometimes early sometimes as late as noon to 1. Get there early and wait for them. If you want to use live bait go straigt across from Jametown to the bend and they are laying at 42' in 45' of water. Get in 35-38' of water and you will be blanking all day. If you have a fishfinder you will find them just look in those depths.

Been told some of the guides are fishing 50 ' deep on the main lake. Dropping big spoons down and ripping them up through the schools.

This is the time of year that they will be hitting the shad schools for sure. Early morning top plugs should work well also.

Anybody do any good with stripers this weekend?
I did OK on Friday but could not get a bite anywhere on Saturday with cold front. Marked a bunch but that was about it fished from 7-4 and notta all day. No jumps either on Friday or Saturday that I ever saw.
Hope someone else had better luck than I did.
