Cumberland has been in trouble for some time now. Fluctuating water levels and stripers have decimated the largemouth in my opinion. I grew up on the head of wolf creek and am 43 yrs old. I have fished this lake hard for 30 years and the last 5 have been the worst I have ever seen the lmouth fishing. Other species are Ok but the largemouth are a thing of the past I am afraid.
I think the water levels have been more stable in the last 3 years than they ever were before the dam dam repairs.
I totally agree with the stripers, but I don't totally agree with the water fluctuation. I spent the first twenty years of my life on Beaver creek. My dad managed and owned Beaver Creek Resort for over 25 years. There was always water fluctuation. High in spring and low in the winter. I was there when they worked on the dam the previous time . In a normal fall, you could go to the heads of the creeks and wear the largemouth out on a spot or swimming minnow. Not sure what the total problem is bur I hope it turns around. When I lived there , I fished at least 6 days a week.I loved that lake.
