Talking Heres Why I Love Fishing!

So Saturday's weather didnt turn out to be as good as fishing weather as what I expected, but my 10yr old son wanted to head to the lake, so Dad, my son and I loaded up the boat and headed off to Grayson Lake. It was the first time he had been on the lake with the water level at winter pool, so he was very shocked at everything that was out of water. He was making mental notes at rock piles, brush piles, how points were covered. So we put the boat in the water and hit it hard and after about 2 hours, was really worried it was going to be a skunk day. We passed a couple other boats and they all said they were having a bad day as well. The crankbait bite was not working at all, so I tied on a tube and moved to a point and quickly landed a short fish. Dad followed behind me with another short fish and then the little guy started putting it on us! It was the first time fishing a grub, 3" Smoke Kaelins Grub, and while there where many hook sets on "bites" that was just him feeling the bottom, he finally got that "real bite" that he quickly knew was different. A swing of the rod, and a fish breaks the surface. By no means was it anything of a big fish, but the excitement was like catching a trophy fish. He ended up with 5 fish on the day, more than Dad and I, and cant wait to get back on the water. I love to go out and tournament fish, but having the little guy in the back of the boat and watching him catch that fish was better than any tournament than I ever won! He did start talking some trash as the day went on and ended up with a fish in his lap...LOL! I thought he was gonna fall in laughing!

Cant wait to get back on the water!

Very cool! It's always such a good time when the little guys are catching all the fish. I think I enjoy it more than my son does when he reels in a bass haha.

Dad said we would have had to tie him off to the boat if we took him down there. May take him down this fall. give me a call when you can.
