    Parking permits

Does anybody know if you need a permit to park a motorcycle at the ramps at cave run lake?...A bud is meeting me there and I don't know whether or not he needs a parking permit.... I suspect the permit wouldn't stay on the bike very long if it was hung on the mirror.

Have him park in the Marina lot at Scotts Creek. The fee is a ramp fee and not a parking fee. The Scotts Creek ramp lot is only for boat trailers anyway (I believe).

Hmmm..... was my understanding the permit was a parking pass... Thanks, not familiar with the marina but maybe thats where he needs to park... Seems odd they never made allowances for bikes at the ramps, did a search but wasn't able to find any information about that.

    Re: Parking permits

My understanding of the permits are, "use permits." I launch at Longbow Marina and according to the people at the marina and others, if you just park to use the portajohns or to take a walk or fish and the rangers or whoever patrols for that come thru and you are not displaying a use permit, you will receive a citation. There are signs at each area stating the rules. I don't think Bangor is a permit area. Our tax dollars paid for the ramps and areas in the first place, now I have to pay again. The question of the mc is a good one. Good luck with that.

    Re: Parking permits

Seemed to have gotten an answer about the motorcycle question... Called game warden who didn't know but he got in touch with a park ranger and it seems a bike requires a permit too... It seems that it is ok to park the bike in front of the truck and put the permit in the truck window, the bike license number needs to be written on the permit so I guess they have had this situation before.

    Re: Parking permits

Well... I guess I'm back to square one... Went to cave run yesterday and the lady at the store told me they don't have a receipt for a parking pass, only thing they have is a generic cash register receipt... According to her, folks buy a pass and just hang it on the bike, maybe folks are more trust worthy than I give them credit for... Even so, I'm still locking my trailer to my truck.

Why do they call it a day pass instead of a ramp pass?
