Big Head Carp in the OH River

I fished the OH river yesterday and saw three big head carp thrown on shore. These things were HUGE too! I have pictures of them but don't know how to post them on this forum. Have any of you caught these things? Is it something we should be worried about? I hear what they're doing on other lakes/rivers and am terrified they're going to over run our waterways.

The bigheads don't jump. It's the silvers that jump, and they don't get quite as large as the bigheads.

Both are filter feeders, and consume large quantities of zooplankton. Zooplankton are at the heart of the food supply chain. The more one species consumes, the less there is available for others........and when fish don't have enough food, growth rates go down, leading to a decline in populations.

    It's a bad deal.

    Where have you been?

The Ohio is full of them as is the Green atleast up past L&D #3 maybe even farther.

I doubt there is anything one single person or group of people can do at this point. Preventing their spread has not worked well. I don't think there is much of a market for them from a commercial standpoint either.

The bowfishermen put a whoopin on both species but they aren't putting a dent in the population either.

Maybe soem kind of parasite will wipe them all out.
