Darkest banks, which shouldn't be a issue right now, the shad should start running about 1:00-1:30..jointed redfin..Catch down the bank, bring it back in..repeat a few thousand casts. We've been on em for weeks..going out again tomorrow night, cant wait! Good luck, the top-water action has been crazy for a few weeks now..the shad are running the shallows pretty hard, usually till right after sunup, then..buzzbaits for the "I'm so tired I'm seein double" bass feeding

Me and my dad went down, got there right at dark, not long after got on them on main lake point by the dam. We caught eighteen all together, 4 were keepers, biggest about 28 inches. I lost on that blew up right at the boat that was biggest of the night, guessing it to be around 12 -14 lbs, got a decent look at it. We threw everything from deep diving cranks, slivers, gizz 4, small redfins, but the bait they wanted for us last night was the big Redfins. i dont know why, caught all of them on it but one that i caught on the gizz 4, and that was at a period of time when the shad and fish had gone down when the wind picked up. The best time period for us was 1-3 oclock which it started raining at 3 and we left. from 1-3 it seemed like we hooked up or had one blowing up on almost every cast, before then they were very sporadic, caught a few right out on the dam, shad were all over the rocks of it.

Had a great night, well worth the drive from frankfort

Thanks for the report. Did you happen to be fishing out of a Skeeter powered by Yamaha?

I hope your father enjoyed his free pie from McDonald's!!! Also don't forget to fix that drivers' side brake light on that Skeeter. Good to put a face with a fishing report. Glad you guys got into the. Redfins worked for us as well.

    Re: Cumberland Stripers

Many years ago the big redfins were very popular for good reason. They put big stripers in the boat. Then it seemed that the big redfins just stopped working as well as the 5 inch version. It's been a long time since I've used the big redfins especially since the average striper is so small now. Of course I don't use any of the redfins now, I use my own top water bait.

Fished Friday night from dusk till 10:30 est. Caught 15 or so of stripers and smallmouth. Gizz 4 on the softer banks and slivers on the more steep areas. Points and bluffs, all the same. Had better fish than I was expecting and had to up the tackle after losing two gizz baits.. LOL Only two were under sized stripers and the smallies were all 3-4 pounds. Kept one 27 incher striper and just finished with the fish fry.
