    Our Barkley trip

Thanks for everyones help. I read the reports after came home from a week on Barkley and it made me feel like I can't fish! Boats everywhere. North barkley to South around donaldson very busy and tough! Ecomony doing well down there, hotels had boats and boats. Never got over the disapointment of no water. All of fish came off of channel banks and roadbeds. Shakey heads and cranks were most successful. We did catch the most 3lbers ever. No real little fish lots of chucks. Junk fishing and 1' to 15'. 15-16 pds a day best 5, but numbers down a lot. Bag 5 crankbaits and 3xd's GR. Giz shad. Love Barkley learned a lot but wished I had waited and went to St. Clair the end of May. Lots Of Luck! Thanks Offdtop and Skeeter.

    Re: Our Barkley trip

It was def. A tough bite. I have never saw so many boats through the week as I did this week. We to were in the 13-16 lb. Range most days. Of course the one big fish we hook up on broke the line beside the boat after we got a nice look at her. I saw your avalanche, but me and my buddy like that topwater so we fished til we couldn't see in the evenings and napped in the day when it was 90 degrees.

    Re: Our Barkley trip

What was up with all the boats? Tournament in the area or just too many fisherman? any reports about KYL during same period?

I have fished Guntersville a couple of times over the last few years. Loved the lake but find it not relaxing with so many boats competing or choice spots. Thought barkley/KYL were better at the time. Maybe not anymore?
