1 rod and reel combo, a pack of hooks, splitshots, bobbers and some Worms. This should catch about all that swims

I'm heading to Marcel,MN soon for a week of fishing. What tackle should I take with me? What species are we after? All of them.
We travel to several different lakes while we are there. Sometimes up to 3 lakes a day. Large-mouth,some small-mouth,gills,crappie,northern pike, perch, and walleye.
I know it sounds confusing and it is.Each day we chose a lake and basically know what species we will target at that lake.
My problem is I have too much tackle to select from. Spinner baits in willow and Colorado blades of different weights and colors.Flukes, Paca Toads,worms,grubs,lip-less crank baits, crank baits, surface baits, wacky worms, wide gap hooks, worm hooks, jig heads: the list goes on and on.
I now have the task of going thru the boat barn to select my tackle needs.
After I select my terminal tackle, I then have to chose between which 4 or 5 of my 38 rods and reels I'll be taking.I just know whatever I leave behind is what I'll end up needing!!
Then I'll pack my accessories. Fish gripping boga grip, weight scale, knifes, filet glove, bug repellant, sun screen, pliers, camera............aaaaargh, too much stuff.
It'll be just me and Knute (The heathen) traveling north in my F-150 with the locking bed cover. Thank the Lord we won't be back packing anything in. That would take 100 Sherpas just to haul my stuff around!!
Oh well, wish me luck. I'll let everyone know how it went when I get back.

I very well remember the good old days of my youth. I had a cane pole, a few hooks, 2 bobbers, and a small assortment of split shot. Would fish all day with that set up.![]()
Sounds like a fun trip, hope you have some good fishing and a safe trip.
Let's see....popeil pocket fisherman, helicopter lures, flying lures and a few Banjo minnows!!Lol... Heck man whatever you take will catch fish! Enjoy the freedom and gift of being healthy enough to enjoy your retirement!! Good luck and be safe!
DJD: lol I've got the popeil pocket fisherman in it's original box. I can't remember who gave it to me but it's in the boat barn.
I never fell for the banjo minnow craze but I know a couple of people that bought those things.
I've just got to remember to take enough Insulin, syringes, and blood pressure pills with me!!
Excellent. I'm headed up there Wednesday. Entering the Boundary Waters on Friday. We will be base camping on Crooked lake for 8 days, and I cannot WAIT.
I mostly take soft plastics now. Tubes, Flukes. I also fish quite a bit of shakey head with any plastic craw.
AND don't forget Jigs. I take about 100 or so of those.
Oh, and you cannot go without about 100 big hammer swimbaits......BOOM.
Later,
Geo
It's not until after we've obtained all of these things that we then realize how many times we ouselves have been "caught" in stores like ****'s, Bass Pro or Walmart and online at Tacklewarehouse.com, etc...
I'm truly in my happy fishing place when all I have is a small 14' - 16' aluminum boat, 20-25 horse tiller outboard and a trolling motor...or better yet, waders!
+1 on the waders, nothing is more fun than hooking into a big smallmouth in a creekIt's not until after we've obtained all of these things that we then realize how many times we ouselves have been "caught" in stores like ****'s, Bass Pro or Walmart and online at Tacklewarehouse.com, etc...

I was thinking those exact thoughts when I posted.
When I returned to fishing in my adult years I'd sit with a notepad and write down all the lures and gizmos the pros were using when I watched In-Fisherman,Bill Dance, etc. Most of that carp is still in it's original box, sitting next to the popeil pocket fisherman.

Do they still make that pocket fisherman? I actually want one!!
My best friend growing up has one of those Pocket fisherman. It was handy if you wanted to carry it along to non fishing outing where you knew there would be fishing accessible at some point.
I doubt they are still made, but I bet you could find one on e-bay if you keep your eyes out for one.
