Because the driver was an illegal alien without Insurance, without a drivers license, without registration, without documentation. HOW the hell would the "gubment" figure out where to send the bill.
Instead, they sent it to the ONLY person the had LEGITIMATE information on.......the poor DEAD MAN.
Yea, that is a really WTF moment.
The mom sure handled this a lot better than I would have. The SOB that sent the bill would have needed a street cleaner to remove the boot I would have strategically placed extremely far up their rectum.

Pack up your family and go to Mexico and when the local police ask you where you are from don't answer. Or better yet try to go vote. Let me know how that goes for ya!
Why does the government send bills to ANYONE to clean up after traffic accidents? I can KIND OF see it if it's a big tanker truck that spills stuff all over the highway, but not just a regular traffic accident.
I can see doing it for MOST traffic accidents. It's gotta get cleaned up, and especially if the accident was somebody's fault, why not have them pay for the cleanup rather than the taxpayer? But let's use a little judgement and restraint. I don't mind my taxes paying to clean it up rather than billing the family of the deceased, and I think even my conservative friends will agree with that.
According to the news story, the driver got 17 years in the pen. Seems to me that the gov't should have a pretty good idea how to find the scumbag and send the bill.Because the driver was an illegal alien without Insurance, without a drivers license, without registration, without documentation. HOW the hell would the "gubment" figure out where to send the bill.
Instead, they sent it to the ONLY person the had LEGITIMATE information on.......the poor DEAD MAN.

I didn't see that part..........but hey, I guess the WARDEN can pay it then.
Or better yet, take it out of her commissary rations.........
Actually, just read the article again.............Sentenced and serving are two different stories, but I get your point.
Still, it boils my blood that the deceased was sent a bill.
