My job has me driving around the city and state on any given day and today something jumped out at me. Driving by UK Hospital, UK Good Sam Hospital and Central Baptist Hospital I observed hundreds( combined) of healthcare folks sitting on the curbs in scrubs smoking cigs. Just thought it was ironic. Also wondered how much time they waste. I'm not a smoker and wonder how long does one take to inhale one of those things down? 5 min? 10 min?
Plus what good is it to have scrubs on if your sitting on the curb and smoking? We live in an age that infection control in hospitals are a major factor. Matter of fact infection control folks dictate most construction barriers and construction traffic. Certain areas are more sensitive than others but my main concern is what do those workers do that smoke and work in cancer areas, O.R.'s or with patients who have a compromised immune system? Any healthcare folks out there??
One last thing on this......how many of you have walked out of hospitals or restaurants and smelled/breathed in that filth?? If your a smoker......it's your right to smoke but at the same time it's my right to not have to breathe that stuff in. Rant and observation over!![]()
