    A-Rig Rod

I'm thinking about breaking down and buying a rod for throwing the A-Rig this Fall/winter. The one I'm looking at is the Veritas 7'11" MH. Has anyone used this for throwing the A-Rig, pro's and cons. Or is there any other rods preferabley by Abu Garcia that you might recommend ? Any help/experience in this area would be greatly appreciated .

I put together a Bama Rig rod recently.......it works OK.

    I'm using a Cumara 7 4 MH, with a Curado spooled with 80lb spectrix.........

I purchased some great bama rigs from ZX150 right on this board.

For the bait, I found a great deal on storm swimbaits. They were clearanced at 30 cents for a pack of 5. I purchased 40 packs of them

I'm using a 1/8 oz leadhead with a EWG hook........I will let you know how they work.

    Later,

    Geo

One thing I can tell you is make sure the rod is rated for a bait as heavy as the A Rig...The rod you're talking about is only designed to throw baits up to 1 1/2oz's and generally an A Rig will outweigh that by quite a bit....Would it work, probably, but it will be underpowered and will put a lot more stress on you...I have a 7'11XH Okuma Guide Select swimbait rod and it handles it like a champ....The extra long butt section of the rod allows me to tuck it under my arm so I'm not using all arms to throw it...Last year I threw the A Rig for 8-10 hours straight for a few days on a 7'4H Cumara, and it wore me down pretty good
