Exclamation "The Phantom of the Opera"

Well my girlfriend dragged me to this show last night in downtown Lexington for what I thought was going to be BORING!! Man was I wrong, that was one heck of a show! The first part was a little slow but I was still in my denial mode of not liking anything that doesn't involve trucks, boats, fishing, hunting, blood, violence, fighting, smash mouth MMA, football or guns .
The ability of these singers blew me away and once I was sucked into the story I was hooked. The singing had me heart and soul. There were funny parts sad parts and parts that made you look inside your self when dealing with the masks we all wear (hahaha to deep?) The second part was the best since I was into it 100% by then. Fantastic story and terrific cast. Ill go again one day for sure. If you haven't seen it do yourself a favor and take your loved one for a wonderful night out. The only thing I will say is have an open mind and enjoy the Acting, singing and story for these people have worked a lot to pull this off. The range of their vocals was amazing!!

Don, thanks for coming on here and risking your man card so you could share with us.

My tastes are very similar to yours, but some years ago the wife made me go to a modernized version of "The Taming of the Shrew" and it was a lot of fun. Since then we've gone to quite a few, including a couple put on by the local high schoolers. Bowling Green High did a good job with "Fiddler on the Roof", they had kid that did Rev Tevya almost as good as the guy in the musical from the 70's. Still sing "If I were a Rich Man" in the shower every now and then.

Something about a live play that even a poorly educated hick like myself can appreciate. Plus it scores me 'lucky' points with the better half.

Hahaha I year ya man..... My man card was at risk for sure!!! Yep my initial intent was to make sure I scored some points as well. I will be more open minded about going to other plays now. Heck she was just so excited I was out in public without jeans and a tshirt! Taking a shower after work, putting on dockers and tucking in my shirt added some points to my tally as well!!!

Don, you have nothing at all to worry about in regards to your man card. You are a man in all areas and are confident in that as well as totally HOT!! I absolutely hated opera until I saw the Phantam of the Opera in Toronto. I went with my mother years ago cuz she needed someone to go with. I dreaded it but was totally blown away by the music and the singing. To be honest I really cant understand what they are saying but man the story is very easy to follow. I loved it so much I bought the cd for my car and listened to it all the time I drove to work and back. I would love to see it again. A very powerful show in my opinion.

they retooled phantom of the opera a few years ago and DESTROYED it......Was this the "dark" version or the "colorful" version.

Both are pretty good, but if this was the "dark" version, it is nothing compared to the original.....NOTHING.

Also, if you liked Phantom of the Opera, you will love Wicked.

    Later,

    Geo

Na.....your man card is not at risk..........not until you start going to Stars on Ice.

Yea, my man card was confiscated years ago. While I don't like the Skating stuff, I do go because my wife likes it, and the ladies do wear some pretty skimpy stuff....

Scoring points is a definite plus.
