    McAlpine automated phone number
502-775-5056 Write this number down and learn to love it.

This morning's report was 19.8 feet of water in the lower pool. This is a little high for me. I like for it to be 18 feet and lower.

Dam release of 46 feet: 42 on the upper, 4 on the lower.

The upper dam is therefore releasing a lot of water and the current will be strong, too strong for my boat to be there.

Four feet on the lower and fishing could be possible at the Clarksville ramp fishing from shore.

If you are fishing from the ramp, be kind and reel in your line and get out of the way of boats launching or retrieving. Yes you have a right to fish from the ramp, but it kinda irks me when I want to launch my boat and a family is there with lounge chairs, coolers, a grill, 14 rods propped up and they give me the stink eye because I want to use the ramp. It's a ramp, not a fisherman's camp site.

The Clarksville boat ramp is directly across from the lower dam and the hydros. I think it's off Randolph Avenue.

Anything lower than 18 feet is fish-able,but I prefer 12 to 14. I'll be there tomorrow,in my boat.

Are you fishing from shore or do you have a boat? If by boat, don't go out there alone for your first trip.

Right now, they are releasing 41 feet of dam on the upper. I'd stay away from the upper.

Thank you so much!Sorry to ask so many questions first time going down there just wanna make it fun! Do you have any suggestions of how to fish the Ohio I am fishing for anything I am making some catfish bait that I have a recipe for and I also have a cast net to net shad. What lures/bait should I use? Also how is fishing there?

Shad is an excellent bait. Bring lots of terminal tackle as you'll get hung up on the rocks a lot,but that's where the fish are. Don't know what your homemade catfish bait is, but I'd leave it at home and just bring some chicken livers to use if you don't catch any shad.

As you face the river, just to your left off the ramp is a good place to try to catch some shad.

BE SAFE!! That current is nothing to play with.
