Your GPS won't really help you in trying to stay in the channel. I don't know why, but it just isn't mapped right or something. The only way I have found to do it, is it to go to Cave during winter pool, idle up the river and start a track on your gps....if you hit something backup and try another route....eventually you'll have a path that works, especially when the water is back up to summer pool, if you don't hit anything at winter pool then you shouldn't hit anything at summer pool. Then just run your breadcrumb trail....thats the only way I know to do it...unless you have a really good memory and up for taking risks. running the river even on a track you make is risky though....

Hairy for sure, I use to fish the river years ago and like you said, the only way at that time was learn the best you could at winter pool but caution was always advised.... It did seem to me that trying to run the channel wasn't the best way to do it as there are trees on both sides of the channel and the left overs from what were trees before it was filled are still there, there are lots of open areas to travel in but be sure about the depth until you are comfortable with what you are doing, never did understand why they never marked a boat lane in the river.
