    Ceramic Baitcaster Bearings

I would like to get your thoughts on ceramic bearings for baitcasters, especially if you have an opinion whether using the recommended friction resistant high speed oils slows down the bearings vs leaving them dry. Puting a drop or two does help rotation noise. What I can find out is the high speed oils do not affect spool speed. For instance, you can not use Hot Sauce on ceramic bearings because it has a difference molecular affect on the bearings, thus slowing them down. From the research done on ceramic spool speed, the ceramic spool speed is around 10 times that of factory ball bearings. Thanks.

Check out bass boat central's forum page. Go to the reel section and there are threads discussing this topic. After reading some of the post I am going to buy a set for one of my reels to try them. There is loads of information on that site.

I put a set of Boca Orange Seal ABEC7's in one of my reels and there is a noticible difference in casting distance and ease of casting....Oil is going to slow them down some but is strongly suggested or your bearings will wear out much quicker....I clean my bearings with lighter fluid and put a SINGLE drop of oil in each bearing...A good set of ceramic bearings is quite pricey, and most go with the upgraded SS bearings, and ceramics are a little more noisey

Do you buy them specific for each model of reel or are they one size fits most?

Go to the boco site and select your application and you should be able to find just what you need. If you dont want to order from them just copy down your part numbers. Tackle Warehouse carries them.

They're generally brand specific. Most lowpro baitcasters of a certainbrand will typically use the same size
