    Cave run spillway

Hey, kyjake . I Used to fish there a lot. If there is a good amount of water being generated fish just above the launch ramp. I have caught some nice crappie there in the eddies on popeye jigs under a small bobber. If very little water is being generated I would take a long crappie rod and fish over the wall with a "bass sinker" on the bottom and two crappie jigs tied above it, sometimes tipped with minnows. Also, the hole on the hatchery side has produced some good numbers in the past. Have seen only a handful of sauger or walleye come outta there in the 15 years I've fished there. Fun area to fish if they're biting. Good luck hope this helps.

Fished the spillway area Monday 11-20,would have liked to try the hatchery ground but was too late as they want you out by dark.Tried the area just above the boat ramp but there was so much grass and almost no water flow, tried the wall and got a couple light hits then moved down to the walkway as far upstream as possible where there was some flow and hooked something that came loose while I was lifting it and didn't get to see it.

Sometimes it's just good to be out and enjoy the day/solitude. Never caught much if there wasn't any flow except for fishing over the wall. And that takes a lot of patience. I have seen a few guys get up by the steps on the wall, during very low flow and catch trout right where the water comes out of the tunnel. Try some minnows over the wall on the rig I explained in my original post. I'm not a live bait kinda guy but have seen many nice crappie taken on minnows over the wall. Anywho I'm rambling good luck and let me know how u do. Headed to taylorsville tomorrow for some bass. Let u know how I do.
