Have caught plenty of good sauger there, just remeber to abide by statewide creel and size limits, especially if you have some small fish if you were fising the Ohio river first.

Has anyone ever did any good Sauger fishing below the lock 1 dam on the KY river in Carrollton? I've got a couple places I've done good bass fishing after Thanksgiving. I figured if the bass weren't biting I'd run up the Ky river and try for Sauger.

I am sure they will be in there with the water temp being in the 40's but if you don't catch any, the mouth of the KY at the Ohio is a great staging point for them. There is a big hole there.
If you go let us know how you do. Thinking of hitting it this weekend.
Thanks for the tips. I'm thinking of trying it this weekend as well.
It will be bumper boats there this weekend. I'll be there in skiff with Honda - say hey if you see me. A friend has been doing really well at Mehldal too. Some nice smallmouth too.
Guess I might have to reconsider. Been a while since I last down there and didn't realize the US421 bridge at Madison has a weight restriction of 3 tons.
