Hey good luck on wed! Because the water is low its gunna be tricky. But if your fishing off the fossil beds right when you get the the bottom of the big stair case walk right all the way down to where it starts to curve and throw a curly tailed grub or even better this lure that catches sauger like crazy look at my latest post called sauger and there is a picture of it. It works I was the only one catching fish out of all the people someone bought it off me for 10$. Try it out you can get them at dicks sporting goods or Walmart for cheap! Good luck to you if you have any more questions please feel free to ask! 😃

Wendy's this morn. Didn't do any good. I think I got there too late. Sun was pretty bright early. Going to try to get there earlier or pick a day with some cloud cover. Maybe go in the evening. Do they bite pretty good thru dec and jan. I know they turn on in February

Is it better to take the boat and try to fish the fossil beds or from the bank. Are they doing any good near the mcalpine discharge? Is it dangerous to get out there in a boat, 16' monarch fiberglass boat with a 90 hp yamaha. I read the post about navigating the fossil beds. sounded like a Indiana jones Temple of doom plan for getting to the treasure

Thanks for the info for a first timer planning on heading out this weekend.

Well my opinion is to not even try to get your boat down by the falls if the water it low you could damage you boat there are tons of rocks. If you want catfish or drum go and fish off the gorge Rogers Clark boat ramps on the Indiana side and use shad and a bigo sinker. You can take it boat to the boat ramp and fish from it. Call this # for what the mcalpine dam is doing and water levels above and below the falls. There predicting 11.2 on saterday low to low for boat at the fossil beds. If you want sauger look at the lure on my post (sauger!!) at look at the lure I use. Foot the museum and fish off the beds with the lure I told you about walk all the way to the right as soon as you get on the beds . And wants its starts to curve fish the curve it's a 40 ft drop off any more question throw them at me

we did really well today but not up top ...we were by the lower spillaway ....it is not dangerous there for a beginner in the boat ....look for deep water and that is the ticket today we were getting them in 36-40ft of water..vertical jigging...no minnows on our jigs .Water temp was 48 degrees.. OK I'll give you my secret we were using home made blade baits .We got some really big sows over 3lbs !!!! ANd they had eggs in them ! I thought they didn't spawn until February usually...

We began to catch sauger while striper fishing back in Sept and then I told my buddy this is gonna be a good sauger year ...
