Ohio River is on the way up

The river is projected to be 21ft on the lower by the 12th! That will change everything . It sure wont be Gin clear anymore

I'm just glad I got into some of the sauger action these past few weeks. It'll be some time for the river to get back to some semblance of order.

We will miss the Sauger for a while below the dam. But they will be back there soon enough.

It is down from the boat ramp about 200yards on the Indiana side, anchor near the mouth

Andrew, I'm not positive but I don't think the mouth of Silver Creek is easily accessible by a bank fisherman. The river is high now and the current is very dangerous with 50 feet of release from the upper.

Hey guys fished the bear traps this morning with Fishinfreak. All I can say is fast water!! No way someone could fish the fossil bed right now out of a boat. You have 4-5ft waves in parts of the fossil bed. Didn't even get a bite. We used spoons, cb's and grubs. Where going to try the duck pond but it was all just fast current with waves. Sorry guys I don't know why the pics are sideways.

Nice report and timely. I'm afraid some new members to fishin.com will get hurt on the river. The newer members hear all about the sauger and are raring to hit the river with little understanding of current and flow. The river can be a very dangerous place and right now is no time for a newbie to test his skills on this treacherous water.

    Be safe,people.

Yes guys. Please don't not go on the river if you are not use to this kind of current. I have a 18ft crestliner deep-v, and I still have to be very careful. Also try not to fish by yourself just in case something did happen. The sauger fishing will be good again once the river gets back to normal.

At Greenup the water is up 10' or so in the last couple days, think this will end my fishing for 2012.The sauger fishing was good before the river came up.Cold weather is getting harder on me last couple years, most of my fishing is at night so cold weather was going to stop my fishing anyway.
