Read something about cheese making 7500 years ago. My grand parents came from poland, they were farmers once. Try to imagine this, they lost the first house they bought just before the depression. They bought another property on the far south east side of chicago. They were the last house on the block, the lot was big enough to later put up two houses, to family. They had a cow, the neighbor akso had a cow[ another pollock]. I remember my mom making cheese. They also raised chickens, and had a duck pond, [for making czar? somekind of blood soup].There was open land all around that house, owned by a steel mill,[where i worked for awhile]. The nearest permanent school was 10 city blocks away.We had a temp school for 1st and 2 nd grade. Outhouses, wood stoves, and no lunches.I remember my grand father was a mean angry guy while we were growing up.Not like Hiedi style. While he never learned to read and speak english very well, he was educated, could read and speak three languages[eastern european] Got a polish newspaper delivered weekly, and was a communist.[Polish national catholic church].Every year he needed to register as an alien, retired from US Steel. His sons were in the army, grandsons were in the armyor other service. My mom bought the house, and took care of him till he died. I'm amazed at some of the things that old guy could do. Make fishing nets, made shoes, and repaired them. When I look at pictures of him, it finaly dawned on me, we look a lot alike now that I'm old.
