Beatings that were severe, but used to insure discipline. This would have been a big story, except it came out at the same time as the CT shooting. As a parent, whose children are grown, it still hurts to think about this shooting. BUT if you look back at our history, you'll see we are not the caring people we believe ourselves to be. Indian children were slaughterd. Our child welfare system is sometimes a shame, because we cant or wont spend the money needed to aid these unfortunate kids. For years migrant workers used thier children in the field to help them make a wage. Child labor laws were fought to keep wages low and use children in the work force, A lot of that has changed, but there is still abuse and disregard concerning our children. Some of our schools are a disgrace, why? We cut budgets by dollars, and later spend more because of shoddy thinking. We say we value our children, and in most cases we do. But a lot of these kids who fall through the cracks are not given a second thought.I also worry about this thing, because my son is a teacher, I have a daughter in law who is one also. With states cutting budgets for law enforcement, and education,we wonder how could this happen. Like you said you cant protect against crazy. And then I was reading where another man was arrested because there was a suspicion that he made threats against a nearby school in indiana.Wanna bet we hear a lot of these things come about suddenly.
