I have a few of both styles...s-curve & honeycomb. I am partial to the Micro Honeycomb rods though. I have not had any issues with either style.
The reels are decent but I prefer other brands. Both my boys have skeet reese reels and have had good luck with them.
Skeets rods are tailored to a specific bait and/or technique, Ideally for bass fishing use. So If you are looking for a general purpose/multi species rod you may want to consider the s-curves style.
Furthermore, Dicks Sporting Goods offer an inexpensive warranty option that can be purchased at time of check out for "most" of there rods. I have a friend that has broke a few rods (random brands) and has had no issue with them (Dicks Sporting Goods) sending him a gift card for the full amount. I'm sure Cabelas and Bass Pro offer the same warranty but I have no knowledge of how it works.
