Does anyone know what week in March would be best to go to Ky Lake to fish for the big females?????
Certainly if the full moon is at the end of March and the water temps are normal for then (high 50's) that is when one could expect the big early girls to go on the beds...but they should already be there prespawn feeding prior to that if we have normal water temps. If you want a chance to catch one of those trophy girls, you have a much better chance to catch them when they are prespawn feeding. My records indicate that we have taken more of them in March when the water temps are in the low 50's and we get a warm day with warm winds that warms the shallows up to the mid to high 50's during the late morning/early afternoon. We have taken some in late February and some in late March/early April, but more during the month in March. This is on the north end of the lake. Expect the big girls a little earlier if you are fishing the south end of the lake. Hopefully, we will have some normal water temps and water levels this March...we have not seen that with all the weird weather patterns the past two years.
thanks Elnuts and Dave,,,,,,wish me luck.....
