I hiked Saturday morning with some friends and I had never been to the Jefferson Memorial forest or seen TW lake. Nice looking little lake, do any of you fellas ever fish out there? What could someone expect to catch there, give me the 411??
Thinking of taking the wife out there in the Spring for some Gills, she loves to Bluegill fish...
i live less than 1/4 mile from there.its normally a super clear lake.there is a ton of fish in there and you can watch them swim around, but catching them is another thing.there was a 10 lb large mouth caught in there a few years back in the spawn.good luckI hiked Saturday morning with some friends and I had never been to the Jefferson Memorial forest or seen TW lake. Thanks fellas................I may take her out there to try for the Gills, what size can we expect???
There are some decent sized bluegill but like mentioned previously, the lake is usually ultra clear and the fish spook easily. For such a little lake in such an off-the-beaten-path locale, it gets a ton of fishing pressure. I assume it is for the fact that they do stock trout and the courirer-journal ran the article about the kid catching the 10-4 LM there a couple years ago. Best advice is wear colors that mimic the sky or woods, be as stealthful as you can manage, and if possible, take a little pond prowler or the likes to access them from the water. Saw a fella there a year or two ago that was regularly catching some nice bluegill from his little plastic doo-hicky. Good luck.
