Fishing somewhere in NKY tomorrow-where to go

    Thinking if either:

    Kincaid
    Boltz
    Bullock Pen or
    Corinth

any suggestions? This is my first shot at early spring bassing since I moved here. Spent plenty of time at all of these over the summer/fall, but what is my best choice for this time of year???

    thanks, Mike

Mike I live in bellevue I bet you these lakes are muddy especially kincaid. If I had my choice it would be kincaid I would fish the entrance to the cove at turkey creek. I was there in late Nov. and had a field day caught about 8 or 9 largest was pushing three pounds stll fun.

    Boltz

On a suggestion from someone else on this board a month or so ago, I wrote to the biologist with the state that covers this region and asked him about Boltz Lake and crappie.

Specifically, I asked about the program from March of 2012 when they removed crappie from Boltz and moved them to Taylorsville. The goal was to supplement Taylorsville Lake while improving the average size at Boltz.

He said they removed almost 1,600 white crappie from Boltz in March 2012. The average size removed was 7.5 inches. They were going to sample later this spring to find out the impact. But based upon this, I would guess the average size of crappie in the lake is probably still on the small side but there are lots of them and I would have to believe there are better numbers of larger crappie in the lake now, a year later. I'm waiting a few more weeks, for the water to warm a bit more, to find out.

I've never been to Boltz before but I'm looking forward to it. I have heard there is not much visible cover so my only concern is being able to find them with my jon boat and no depth finder.

I tried Corinth a little over a week ago and the ramp was closed. They were redoing some of the ramp and middle parking area. Looked to me like they were trying to level the parking area out some.
I ended up at Boltz and didn't have any luck at all. I was bass fishing though and some of the water way back in the coves had a thin layer of ice so it really wasn't ideal conditions. Good luck!

Went to Kincaid - never put the boat in - it was already chocolate milk. Ended up going to Boltz which was much clearer. Threw A-rigs and Jerkbaits all day and only caught one small crappie...

I tried Boltz on Friday and Saturday with jerbaits, senkos, and pig&jig. Couldn't buy a bite though. Nice to get on the water anyway.
