GOP sides with Iran, N. Korea, and Syria

Can one of my Republican friends please explain to me how it is that this U.N. Arms Treaty, which applies only to the EXPORT of arms, could possibly interfere with the Second Amendment, to the point where the United States should join Iran, North Korea, and Syria, in being the only countries opposing it?

Well even though I'm not a republican and I don't agree the US sided with anyone....I don't know the details but have seen and read snippets of info and it was enough for me to say we don't need anything to do with this. I read (can't find it right now) that it will enable officials from other countries to access info of American citizens who may have weapons registered here. True or not?? Scare tactics??? Don't need to be true right now but just the thought of us law abiding folks being put in a international database bothers me.

You know as well as anyone that arms control is the hot button now and everyone wants to get their two cents in on some sort of control. iMO... A new treaty or law is a step in the wrong direction. Any of these will be a vehicle to ride to get more restrictions. After all are we to trust that everyone knows what's in it!! (Just for you)...look at obamacare for goodness sakes!!! We had Pelosi tell us to just agree with it and let's pass it so we can figure it out later.

Forgot to add....Kerry is talking about the second amendment like it never gets challenged or potentially infringed upon at a time when that is exactly what's happening and we are to trust anything about this??? Really??

Me thinks someone had a brain frrrrrt.
"Arms control is a term for restrictions upon the development, production, stockpiling, proliferation, and usage of weapons, especially weapons of mass destruction. Arms control is typically exercised through the use of diplomacy which seeks to impose such limitations upon consenting participants through international treaties and agreements, although it may also comprise efforts by a nation or group of nations to enforce limitations upon a non-consenting country.

On a national or community level, arms control can amount to programs to control the access of private citizens to weapons. This is often referred to as gun politics, as firearms are the primary focus of such efforts in most places.

An international treaty, me thinks if the US entered into it, would be another justification for the gun control flocks. A "we have to do this to be part of the world cumminity intent"

Me thinks the UN action is aimed at stopping distribution of weapons BETWEEN countries, not WITHIN countries. Me thinks someone is intentionally confusing the two seperate issues.

Of course Iran, North Korea, and Syria are against world wide bans on weapons importation. They want more to be a bigger threat. The US would not want part of such a thing because we want to be able to arm our allies.

I proposed we ban the sale of thermo-nuclear hunting rifles. John Kerry, can ya get behind that one?
