Draw down schedule for Ky Lake

I see TVA is planning a rapid draw down of 2 feet in 2 days. Can someone explain the thinking behind this. There is no heavy rain in the forcast or are they just trying to make life difficult for fisherman?

Maybe you missed the fact that the lake is in flood stage. We are 4 1/2 feet over summer pool. The TVA does not regulate water for anglers...they regulate the water for flood control. The fish in the bushes where people have been flipping will move out if the forecast is right....so just adapt, improvise and overcome. Plan on fishing a little deeper.

Hey Dave a couple buddies and I are riding down this weekend planning on catching some bluegill and red ear do you think by Saturday the water will have calmed down enough for the bite to be on? Or do you think they will be deep?

If the TVA continues the present forecasted schedule of the drawdown and takes it all the way down to summer pool, then we would reach summer pool sometime Saturday...that is a big drop in water levels over 4 days. My experience here is that such a quick drawdown not only moves the fish deeper but scatters them for a day or two...but who knows with the TVA forecast....the forecast has changed so often lately that the present forecast could change again.

Maybe things will get back to normal when I get back from Canada........WHICH BTW is also messed up by crazy weather. Last forecast was there is still 10 inches of ice on the lake I'm entering on.........DANG.

Too bad they don't make the Humminbird 360 unit for snowmobiles and you could drill some holes in the ice to find the fish.

I bet that they could use a portable depth finder, GPS unit and laptop computer and a snow mobile to map those frozen lakes really quick. Sonar can penetrate though the ice if you put some water between the transducer and the ice surface.
