FLW TV Shows

Anyone else besides me find that the FLW Tour coverage has been extremely boring to watch this year? Mailnly due to the Alabama Rig. Every show this year over half the top 10 are throwing the stupid A-Rig. This makes the show extremely boring to watch. I wish FLW would follow suit and ban the A-Rig. I don't own one and don't plan on owning one. I think it's weak.

If it's legal and will catch fish, I will throw it.

That being said:
I like to watch the "pros" fish for the reason of them figuring the fish out and catching them. I like to learn from them, and I think that the A-rig has taken away from that a bit. #1) The A-rig isn't just chunk and wind, you have to know where to chunk it to be productive, however, rarely does a show actually show you what they are chunking to. NOW, when they are pitching to cover, or cranking a bluff wall, I see that and think, "I can find something similar, maybe I can make that work." Odds are that I can't, but at least it gives me a glimmer of hope. LOL

Maybe a little off topic, but I think most tournament coverage stinks now. Those shows used to be pretty good. However, PAA tournaments are covered on one of the outdoor channels, and I think it's really good. Kind of like the old Bob Cobb bass masters I watched as a kid. It's in the 600's on direct tv. They've got a website you can reference for details. Give it a try.

The PAA coverage does remind me a lot of the old bassmaster coverage, and that is a good thing. I like their coverage better than any other, except the bassmaster classic, because of the multiple hours worth of coverage.

PAA definitely shows more fishing. I don't really care about watching tournaments in California or other spots out west. I like to see stuff that can translate to central KY and southern IN. PAA shows a lot like that.

I don't get FLW fishing shows on my cable channels. And speaking of the old Bassmasters shows, those were the good ones when Bob Cobb was involved with it. I wish they would go back to that style. In my opinion, they were much more informative.

I gave up watching FLW events a long time ago because of the way the do not give coverage to anglers that are in line with the same sponsorship as FLW. I was just recently reading on another forum that Andy Morgan just won the AOY title but got very little coverage because the boat company he is sponsored by is not a title sponsor of FLW. In fact it is a company that sponsor's very few professional fishermen,Andy may be their only pro. I could care less if he runs a Bullet or a Ranger just give him the coverage he deserves.

If you're not in line with what product they want to show on TV you will get little to no air time. First and foremost we need to realize that FLW (and BASS) are a business. I understand that they make money by promoting a product. I am one of the few people who pays ZERO attention to what product a angler represents. It is hard for me to put my faith in a product when I know the person is getting paid or some type of compensation to use it. Guess I kind of got this this thread off topic,but it really chaps me how they have lack of coverage unless you are one of "their" pro's.

It is all about the money and sponsors/advertising. Just like any business.
I have direct tv and I cannot see the FLW tx. I do watch the PAA tx and Bassmasters.

bassmasters's coverage also is slipping. You tune in to watch the current tournament as it happens; but while the fishing is happening they are showing footage they are showing past performances. Currently they are attempting to show the classic. They have made 1 show for each day of the competition-ok it is the classic. They split day 3 in half for 2 shows. Uh ok I guess. But they keep going back and showing previous footage of the prior days! I have watched all of that I want to see what is going on NOW. I have seen aren martins get hit in the face on day 1 50 times.
They do the same on golf coverage. You are watching the masters and they cut to the butler cabin for some interview with someone not even in the Trent-HEY THEY ARE PLAYING GOLF RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they had a hard time covering the classic this year. They only had so many camera crews to put with boats and the fishing was tough. Guys werent catching many fish and its hard to make an hour long show when the guys are catching 5-7 fish a day. They wind up having to use a lot of filler material. People think making these shows are easy but it has to be difficult to get good footage without getting in the anglers way whether it be an in boat cameraman or a chase boat camera crew
